Pet ownership can be one of the happiest parts of life. Dogs, cats, birds, and all sorts of animals are family and our best friends. They’re quirky little creatures with adorable personalities—from sweet to sassy to high drama, they provide so much fun, love, and laughter for their humans.
They also have stories, just like their owners. Names can help connect and tell those stories.
We’re firing up our imaginations and getting our nerd on to bring more fun to pet ownership, and also show our love of fandom, movie trivia, historical references—we have all kinds of name lists, and they keep growing!

The original name of the blog was “The Peculiar Pet Name Lab,” and it was meant to get the most weird and bizarre names we could come up with. As time went by, we wanted to focus on more usable names that would be meaningful to owners. We’ve scaled back the oddity factor, but we kept a nod to it in the name.
